hope someone can help, my great grandmother Editha Maud Miriam Rowlands nee(Ewins) lived for a time in Smithy Cottage

and when there, their grandchildren would turn up having run away from there drab homes in Hulme and Moss Side Manchester because it was so nice in Churchstoke. I wonder if anyone would know if the cottage still stands and where abouts i would be able to find it.I have a picture of my great grandmother sat outside the cottage but it only shows the side wall, i believe they lived there in the1930s

while pondering a map of the UK i noticed the odd-shaped border between Wales and England centering apparently on Church Stoke. it almost appears to be a taoist symbol of the yin-yang, or a Taijitu. could someone tell me something about why the border is shaped as it is?

I am trying to trace the Marston family whom were farmers in Churchstoke in 1700/1800's. In particular a Susan (or Susannah) Marston born circa 1823 (mother was Mary and unwed at the time?. Susan married a John Jones in Ludlow in 1844. They had a son called George. John died and she then married my g.g. grandfather Samuel Bird on 22.11.1855 on Church Stretton. Any help on the Marston family would be very much appreciated please? I am visiting Churchstoke on 8/9 May 2011.

I am trying to find any references to the DAVIES family who lived in the "Upper Shop Stores" from the early 1880's and well into the 1900's. They were a large family. Cetain members of th e family were mentioned in the book "Memories are made of this" by the Churchstoke Recorders. One picture shows BRIAN DAVIES in his uniform of the Montgomeryshire Yeomanry. Any info would be appreciated.

My grandmother Eleanor Mary Jones (nee Davies) had a sister Cissie who married a Casewell and the childeren were George, Doris Ellen, Nancy and Gwen..I am trying to complete another branch of our family tree. Welsh National Anthem
Posted By: Eddie Evans from Churchstoke
Saturday 21st November 2009
I was disappointed and dismayed with the version of the Welsh National Anthem contained within the "Order of Service" for the Remembrance Day Service at Churchstoke Church on Sunday 8th November. It was disrespectful to the Welsh culture and heritage and insulting to those within our community who are proud to be Welsh and proud of our nation.
